Prayer Ministry

The Prayer Ministry involves all members of St. John.  God’s Word commands us to pray, and we know that He hears our prayers.

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in  Christ Jesus for you.  1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

For what great nation is there that has a god so near to it as the LORD our God is to us, whenever we call upon him?  Deuteronomy 4:7

Prayer is a part of all we do at St. John.  The New Testament church reminds us that what gives life and energy to our mission and ministry are the Holy Spirit and our connection to God through prayer.

We pray and focus on prayer in many ways:

  • Prayer CandlesWorship services
  • Weekly Bulletin Ministry of Prayer and Care
  • E-mail prayer chain
  • Prayer retreats
  • Bible studies
  • Special prayer events
  • Prayer Walk events

We encourage people desiring to pray at church to use our prayer room or sanctuary.  Members wanting to receive prayer notices or participate in e-mail prayer chains, please contact the church office.

Prayer requests can be submitted during worship services, by contacting Pastor Cosgrove at , Denise Wright at , Karen Frey at , an Elder, or the church office at .

Pray for Every Home is a ministry that encourages Christians to pray regularly for their neighbors. We firmly believe in God’s desire for us to pray for all people, everywhere.

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.  1 Timothy 2:1-4
