Rediscover Christmas 2020 - Sundays in December

Advent CoversThe Advent season prepares our hearts to celebrate the coming of the true Light of the world, Jesus Christ. But this year, Christmas isn't "Christmas as usual."  This year, 2020, has been perhaps the most difficult year we can remember, and challenges still loom ahead. The good news is:  On that first Christmas, also a dark time in history, Jesus, the Light of the world, came to earth…and He is still the Light in our night, even now. This series encourages us with the certainty of God’s love in these uncertain times, and with the hope that our Christmas can be as joy-filled and hope-filled as ever before.

  • December 6 - Finding Hope in Our Uncertainties - Luke 2:22-38
  • December 13 - Finding Peace in Our Struggles - Luke 2:8-20
  • December 20 - Finding Joy in Our Discouragements - Luke 1:39-55

Prepare Ye

Mid-Week Advent - Wednesdays, December 2020

Advent WedThe Mid-Week services will focus on the many ways we prepare ourselves for the coming of the Christ Child on Christmas, taking cues from the Psalms of old and from those persons whom God chose to play a part in the story of our Lord’s birth. As we draw near to the manger bed of Jesus, our Savior who saves us from sin and death, our hearts prepare room for Him and His everlasting love.

  • December 2 - Pray - Through Zechariah’s account and Psalm 69:13
  • December 9 - Praise - Through Elizabeth’s account and Psalm 30:4
  • December 16 - Proclaim - Through John The Baptist account and Psalm 145:6

                                          2020 Bible Reading Plan
BibleSt. John believes that Bible Reading is important, nourishes, and that God’s Word always has effect.  To encourage people to read their Bibles, LCMS has an online Bible Reading Plan for 2020.  Missing a day or two, or even a week, does not mean failure - the idea is to keep reading, as time permits.
